Sunset village trek (Astam, Dhampus)

Sunset village trek (Astam, Dhampus)

We drove 25 minutes from Pokhara (884m) to Milan Chowk (1050m) and from Milan Chowk we have started our trek to Astam (1522m). We walk through the wild chestnut forest and in that forest we saw many birds and also we are lucky to see deer. On our right-hand side we can see the Kali Gandaki river and the valley. After stopping in Jhijhirka village for a tea break we reached our destination in Astam village. From there we could see the panoramic mountain view and also beautiful sunset and sunrise. After 3 hours walk, we reached our destination Astam.

We went to the Australian camp which is another nice place to stay overnight to see the sunset, sunrise and also panoramic mountain view. To reach here we  have to walk through the Hyangjakot village and Dhampus village (1700m). It was a nice walk on this day as well. We had good weather and a great view. We saw Rhododendron flower in between Hyangjakot and Dhampus. We stop for lunch in Dhampus and after that, we have to walk through the forest to go to the Australian Camp which took us 5 hours on this day.

After breakfast, we went to Sarangkot (1600m). We walk around 45 minutes to Kande and from there we took a local bus to Naudanda and from there we continued walking to Sarangkot, from there we can see Pokhara valley and Fewa lake on our right side. It was a bit cloudy on that day so we did not see any mountain view. But we enjoyed walking with the group for 3½ hours to Sarangkot. From Sarangkot we were picked up by a car to come to  Pokhara.
