Experience the scenic hidden valley of Manaslu, Nar & Phu, near Tibet border in absolute wilderness on the less visited area in the remote Tibetan like landscape. Charming villages with rich traditions, culture and religion of Tibetan buddhist origin located at the north from Annapurna range. This trek takes you past the world's deepest gorge the Kali Gandaki gorge and then over the highest pass in the world Thorang La at an elevation of 5,416 m. The trek goes through the remote and beautiful valley of Manang and then to the spiritual place of Muktinath.
We start walking gentle uphill trail through the forest. Along the way we will encounter lots of donkey passing the trail and gorgeous waterfalls. We will reach Lapubeshi after walking for 2 ½ hours and it will take us another 2 hours to reach Machi Khola (our lunch stop). We will walk along the riverside of Budi gandaki.
We reach Tatopani (Hot spring) on the way and cross a bridge over the budi gandaki river. It is a gentle uphill and downhill walk until Dovan. Dovan is a small village with a few schools. After walking for 1 ½ hour from Dovan we will reach a cliff where we should be very careful as there are rocks falling out. After crossing a bridge we will arrive Jagat. Jagat is a restricted area where we can entry our special permit. It is a small village where different ethnic group suvh as Gurung, Shahi, Chhetri and Thakuri lives.
After breakfast we will slowly make a gentle climb uphill for 1.5 hrs. We will cross a long bridge over the Budi Gandaki river. After 30 minutes steep climbing we will reach Philim (1570m). After this climb, the trail is gentle scenic views on the other side, including waterfall, mountain view, pine forests and a few villages. We will have lunch in Pewa (1800m). After lunch we will hike for an house passing by Mani walls. We will have views of Sringi Himal).
After 20 minutes of gradual walk through the bridge, we will ascent steep uphill to Bhi Phedi for 2hrs. After Bhi Phedi we will descend down to the bridge, then we will walk gradual walk upto Ghap (2200m). We can stop for the lunch either Ghap or an hour further in the forest hotel. After lunch we can continue 3-2hrs further by crossing the bridge climbing steep stairs uphill through the forest. We will see a nature made bridge from a big stone. If we are lucky we might even see different wild animals, mountain views crossing by Gurung villages to our destiny Namrung (2630m).
Today we start walking very early at 4am in the morning. We will walk slowly gradual uphill to Larka pass for 4 hours. We will carry pack lunch. After the pass we have to be careful as we will walk steep zigzag down as the trail is slippery. While walking down we recommend to support each other. After 4 hours we will reach Bhimtang.
After Koto enter the hidden valley and Buddhist area. We walk through Juniper and pine forests and reach Meta. We will have long walk, through nice river view and waterfalls. We can see few small tea house in between Jungle and we can have lunch in there. Mostly trail is gentle. Just before Meta village, we should have to walk steep jigjag up hill around 2 hours. And then, We can see Meta village. This village is smaller than Koto.
After Meta to Phoo, way is gradual, along the river side. We can see nice rock cliff, desert area, traditional few village Chyakhu and Kyang.In winter time, Phu village people move to Kyang to live. And Kyang to Phu its takes about 4 hours. And then we can see Phu village. This village is a very old and traditional village with a historical monastery. So better to have rest day and visit here.
After Phu village to Nar phedi way is same back down more than half way. We should have to pass Chyakhu village also. After Chyakhu, two hours walk, we should have to crass very nice bridge over the Mahendra khola. And then climb steep up hill to Nar Phedi in Gumpa. In here available good room and food.
Today is one of the longest but most rewarding day of the trip. We will depart early and slowly climb gradual uphill for three hours. Then we will make a steep climb for two hours all the way up to Kangla Pass (5300m). From the top, the views are just simply breathtaking. After the pass, we will descend steep downhill for five hours to Nawal (3660m).
The trail out of Nawal village descends steadily down on the dusty slope with the great views of the Manang vally and Hungde airport. We are soon on relatively level terrain with trees and bushes. We pass the village of Munji and eventually reach the village of Braga, from here Manang is just 1.5 km ahead. Manang offers a fascinating mountain views of Annapurna range. The doctors of Himalaya Rescue Association provides talks on mountain sickness at 3 pm every day for trekkers.
Today we climb up to Phedi (4400 m) at the foot of the Thorung La pass. We might be lucky to spot a herd of blue sheep. Afternoon stroll to a higher altitude and return to stay in Phedi for well acclimatization. After an early supper we retire to our sleeping bags – full of anticipation for the next day.
Muktinath is one of the pilgrimage sites for Hindus & Buddhist – we can visit the Buddhist gompa and the Vishnu temple of Jwala Mayi. Every year many pilgrims make a visit to Muktinath especially in spring season. Mountain on the other side such as Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peach, etc can be seen. The trail to Elkebhatti (2740m) is all the way downhill, crossing the authentic village Jharkot (3500m) and Khingar Tibetan-influenced settlements. After Elkebhatti trail follows the Kali Gandaki river bed to Jomsom (2730m), headquarter of Mustang district. It is a relatively easy walk.
Today we take an early morning a 30 minutes flight back to Pokhara were we can spend a wonderful day relaxing and recuperating with soothing views of Fewa lake and our tales of the high mountains. Dinner is served in the evening at the Three Sisters Guesthouse and our trekking staff will join in for an evening of laughs, music, dancing. Or Bumpy jeep ride take us to Beni. We will take another 3hrs jeep drive on the good road to Pokhara.
Price Includes: Guide, assistants, 3 meals per day, afternoon tea & snacks, accommodation for the duration of the trek (2 persons per room). However, during high season one room per two clients may not be always available. If this should happen we request our clients to be flexible and share a triple or room with four beds.
